Reliable choice for creators

I've been using Kit for a few years now, back when it was still ConvertKit, and I keep coming back for a reason. This time, I upgraded my plan to get access to the E-commerce for Creators features, and it integrated seamlessly with my existing setup. What I appreciate most is the consistency; the platform rarely has downtime, and the interface, while it gets occasional updates, remains familiar and easy to navigate. I had considered trying a competitor like Substack for my paid newsletter, but Kit's subscriber segmentation and customizability won me over again. They just reliably deliver on what they promise, which is super important when your income depends on it.

Effective email automation platform

I recently signed up for Kit, specifically for their email marketing automation and visual automations features. The onboarding process was straightforward, with clear instructions for migrating my existing subscriber list. I found the visual automation builder quite intuitive, allowing for complex sequences to be set up without needing extensive technical knowledge. Email deliverability appears to be excellent; my open rates have remained consistent with my previous platform. Customer support responded to a query about custom domains within a few hours, providing a helpful link to their knowledge base. The landing page builder offers a decent selection of templates, though customization options could be slightly more robust. Overall, it's a solid tool for creators looking to streamline their email efforts.

Solid features, minor hiccup

Kit offers some really powerful features, especially the visual automations and subscriber tagging, which have been super helpful for managing my audience segments. I found the landing page templates to be quite useful for quick setup. However, I did notice that the Email Designer, while functional, could benefit from a few more advanced styling options to really make emails pop without needing custom code. Delivery was prompt for account activation and everything. Customer service was responsive when I had a question about migrating my RSS to email feed, which was good.

Great value with free plan

I was looking for an email platform that wouldn't break the bank, and Kit's free plan for up to 1000 subscribers was exactly what I needed to get started. I managed to set up my first Sign Up Forms and an Email Designer broadcast without spending a dime. The ability to sell digital products directly from the platform later on is also a huge plus, making it feel like a smart investment for future growth. Definitely felt like I got a lot of value for no cost right now.

Easy to use, good for newsletters

I signed up for Kit to send out my weekly newsletter. The setup was quick. I used the Email Designer and it worked fine. My emails went out on time. No issues at all. It's good for what I need.

Good for my newsletter

I used Kit for my newsletter and it's been pretty smooth. Setting up the email sequences was way easier than I thought, which was a relief. I like that I could connect it with other stuff I use too. Didn't have any major headaches, which is always nice when you're trying to get a project off the ground.

Does anyone know if Kit has any kind of student discount? I'm trying to start a newsletter for my club but money's tight.

K Kyle Torres 1 week ago
I think I saw something about a student discount in their help docs. You might need to contact support to apply for it though, it's not just a code you enter.

They do! My friend got one for his college project. Check their website's FAQ, it should mention how to apply.

Hey, looking to switch over from Mailchimp. Anyone have experience with the migration process? Is it a headache or fairly smooth?

M Mark Parker 1 week ago
I just migrated a few months ago and it was super easy. They have a free migration service too, which I used. Saved me a ton of time.

Yeah, I did it myself. Just exported my lists and imported them. Took like an hour maybe, for a few thousand subs. Not bad at all.

Is Kit good for selling digital products directly, like ebooks or templates? Or is it better to use something like Gumroad alongside it?

R Richard Miller 1 week ago
You can totally sell digital products directly through Kit. I sell my templates and a mini-course that way. It's pretty integrated.

I use their e-commerce features for my paid newsletter. It works great. No need for a separate platform unless you have really complex needs, I guess.

How does Kit compare to Substack? I like the idea of paid newsletters but not sure which platform is better long-term.

J Jeff Rivera 1 month ago
Kit gives you way more control and automation options, especially for building out sequences and landing pages beyond just the newsletter itself. Substack is simpler for just publishing.

If you want to do more than just a newsletter, like sell other digital stuff or have complex email funnels, Kit is probably better. Substack is super streamlined for just paid newsletters.

I'm looking for a Black Friday deal. Does Kit usually do anything special around that time, or is it mostly just their regular discounts?

A Anthony F. 1 month ago
They've definitely had Black Friday deals in the past. Keep an eye out closer to November, they usually announce something then.
3
J Jason Smith 1 month ago
Yeah, they usually do something for Black Friday and Cyber Monday. It's one of their peak times so I'd expect it.

Thinking about signing up for Kit, but wondering about payment options. Can I just pay monthly or do they try to push you into annual plans?

D Daniel Miller 1 month ago
You can definitely pay monthly. I've been on a monthly plan for ages. They do offer a discount if you switch to annual, though.
2
K Kyle E. 1 month ago
Yeah, I pay monthly. It's an option right there when you sign up. But I think you save like 17% if you go yearly, something like that.

I heard about a 30-day free trial. How do I get that? The website only seems to mention 14 days.

A Alex Lewis 2 days ago
Sometimes they offer extended trials through specific links or creator promotions. I got a 30-day one through an affiliate link. Try searching for 'Kit extended trial' maybe?
5
M Michelle Harris 2 days ago
Yeah, it's often from a referral. The standard is 14 days, but if you find a creator who's an affiliate, they might have a longer trial link.
